For those of you who are on Twitter today you will know I’m in a battle over food on there. But the question stands, from where you’re from, what is the hardest thing to eat and drive?
I’ll say where I’m currently living in Maryland Blue Crabs becauseI can barely de-shell them when I’m a sitting at a table, I have seen folks driveing and de-shelling. So crazy.
From where I’m from around Chicago,
Portillo’s Combo Dipped with hot peppers.
It’s an Italian beef sandwich, with a polish sausage up its ass, dipped back in its own juices and covered in hot peppers. So good, I have driven and eaten this, it’s a mess and its sooooo good.
What about where you are from?

The portillos is hard to eat while driving, although only when dipped. Dry its no worse than any other sub. Dipped though, you better inhale that bastard because its coming apart in seconds.

Not from Buffalo, but I have to say hot wings. They can be eaten with one hand, but you, and your car, will inevitably end up covered in hot sauce. Bonus points if you end up getting hot sauce in your eyes.

Hmm, I can’t help but think that Gumbo would be a bitch and a half to eat while driving, but so would any soup, so that’s kinda cheating. You took crabs for Maine so going with boiled shrimp or crawfish for Here in Houston would be too obvious. Hmmm, how about biscuits and sausage gravy from Whataburger? Though a rack of BBQ ribs might be up there too.

The Yesterdog. A local staple (and for good reason, this shit is my meter stick for delicious hot dogs), the Yesterdog is very similar to a hot dog, but messier. Difficult enough to eat in the booth, I couldn’t imagine attempting it behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.

Eat.... while driving? People do that?! I don’t even allow open food or drinks in my cars. Bottled water only.
I had a bad experience a couple years back when I got hit and had groceries in the back... turns out milk + pickle juice gets unbearably rancid shockingly quickly.
Since then I’ve bought two new cars and a used one, and I’ve only broken the rule once (on the day I sold one).

Augustiner Bierhalle is way better than the Hofbräuhaus for example, so you did good. How long did you work there? The challenging part about eating these in the car is that the cheese is in the middle of the burger so when you take that first bite it is like biting into molten lava. If you don’t end up in a guard rail or the ditch at that point it should be easy going from there... assuming you don’t drip that in your crotch.

Not saying it is terrible, just not as good as they think they are. I’ve sampled quite a bit of their product (particularly when I would get care packages of the stuff when I was in College) and it is tasty. But if I were to invest the same coin into a Steak dinner I would rather spend it at a local Butcher shop or decent Grocery that offers aged Beef.

We used to get a giant tub of corn on the cob from some restaurant I wish I knew, and the corn was swimming in a butter and garlic melted to perfection, with a skim coat of seasoning on top. So when you pulled the corn out, you got a drippy buttery mess with just the right amount of seasoning on it!

Fried rice with chop sticks. Maybe pho these days.
Alternatively, just about any traditional Mexican dish that isn’t served as a street food.
Alternatively-alternatively, if you expand to the greater LA Area, the most difficult thing you’d expect to be able to eat is probably the Busy Bee sausage or meatball sandwich with extra sauce.

DO NOT EAT IN THE CAR.
I mean, do not eat in the car.
I repeat: do noooooooot eat in the car.
Do NOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT eat in the car!
Sometimes you can get away with easy, self-contained finger food liek Timbits, but really? Don’t eat in the car. That’s how you get ants. Even Timbits drop frosting sometimes. Do you really want ants? Do you want your car to smell like a rolling garbage can? No. That’s why you don’t eat in the car.
If you can’t pull over to eat a proper meal, you shouldn’t be driving, or eating. It’s a pick one or the other thing. Trying to do both at once is gross. The two don’t mix.
